Next Century Cities in an Aspen Digital Roundtable on Broadband Connectivity in the Age of COVID-19

On May 27, 2020, Next Century Cities participated in an Aspen Digital roundtable discussion on what the coronavirus pandemic revealed about the need for high-speed connectivity. A wide range of voices from within the Internet ecosystem were invited to share their perspectives on ways to expand broadband access.

Executive Director, Francella Ochillo, stressed that there are millions of Americans who continue to struggle with access and affordability. While most local officials and residents were able to adapt to COVID-19 shut downs, many others lacked the access and digital tools to do so.

The discussion focused on new approaches to long-standing issues of connectivity. Specifically, it explored how we can use our digital infrastructure to improve economic resiliency, public services, and social progress.
