Yesterday, the Open Technology Institute (OTI) at the New American Foundation released a new report featuring several Next Century Cities members as global leaders for high speed broadband investment and offerings.
Next Century Cities members Chattanooga, Tennessee; Kansas City, Kansas; Kansas City, Missouri; and Lafayette, Louisiana were all named global speed leaders on par with Seoul, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.
The report, The Cost of Connectivity 2014, is an annual comparison of Internet speed and cost in 24 cities within the U.S. and around the world. This year’s findings echo past reports, which found that – speed leaders aside – U.S. cities typically lag behind international peers in terms of both Internet cost and quality.
