(September 7, 2023) – WASHINGTON, DC —-  On Friday, September 8, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. MT, Corian Zacher, Next Century Cities’ Senior Policy Counsel for State & Local Affairs, will moderate a panel of local broadband leaders at the New Mexico Tech Summit. The two-day conference will take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Through Catherine Nicolaou’s work as Broadband Program Manager, the City of Albuquerque, New Mexico, received an Affordable Connectivity Program outreach grant to boost awareness, with nearly half of eligible households not using the benefit. In the City of Topeka, Kansas, where almost 20,000 residents live below the poverty line, Monique Glaudeˊ, its Director of Community Engagement, works alongside community partners to connect them with reliable Internet access, distribute refurbished devices, provide digital skills training, and offer sustainable tech support to low- and moderate-income families. As a board member of Borderplex Connect, Denise Avila supports collaborations between local broadband initiatives in El Paso County, Texas, and Doña Ana County, New Mexico, two areas where approximately one in five households struggles with poverty. Alongside local leaders, those partnerships bring affordable, reliable broadband and digital inclusion programs within reach for residents across the Borderplex Region.
