NCC Meets With The Office of FCC Commissioner Geoffrey Starks

On April 6, 2020, Next Century Cities (NCC) met with the Office of Commissioner Geoffrey Starks. We reiterated why, in the age of COVID-19, access to affordable and reliable broadband is essential for every community. We also discussed how Lifeline could help newly unemployed Americans who may suddenly be eligible for the program. Finally, we suggested that the Commission provide public service announcements on the importance and availability of Lifeline, working with municipal leaders to share information on eligibility and enrollment in local networks. The letter was filed on (ECFS), the Federal Communications Commission’s repository for official records.
