This month we discussed the reliance of education technology in public schools, the high costs for families for connectivity and device management, and recommendations for local officials.
October 2023: Digital Inclusion within Indigenous Communities
In October’s segment of Broadband Bites for Lunch, we were joined by H. Trostle who is the Senior Policy Analyst for the Center for Indian Country Development at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. H. shared about their research on the Affordable Connectivity Program’s (ACP) uptake within Native Nations and discussed some of the nuances that effect ACP sign up and data consumption.

On August 22, 2023, Stacey introduced her recent research on EdTech policies in public schools, while Ilana Lowey, Director from Common Sense Media, Arizona joined the discussion to share about her work in supporting students’ access to broadband services and digital devices.
July 2023: The Affordable Connectivity Program
NCC kicked off our Broadband Bites for Lunch segment on July 25, 2023 with a focus on the Affordable Connectivity Program. Special guest Herminia Ramirez from Department of Homeless Solutions & Equitable Communities (HSEC) in San Diego, California shared about their agency’s work in connecting directly with community members to bring broadband access through ACP sign ups.
