State and Municipal Case Studies

Highlighting Broadband Challenges and Successful Connectivity Models in Municipalities across the United States

STATE CASE STUDIES

In the past several years, the role of state broadband offices has increased exponentially. While some states have maintained offices for the last decade, others are centralizing broadband policy for the first time. Similarly, more local governments than ever are taking ownership of broadband gaps in their communities.

Next Century Cities’ state case studies offer a window into the coordination, collaboration, and innovation at the heart of statewide efforts to bridge the digital divide.

MUNICIPAL CASE STUDIES

Next Century Cities is proud to release case studies on the state of broadband access and adoption in cities across the country. Interviews and research were conducted with cooperation from local officials and community leaders. Local governments in each municipality have partnered with philanthropic entities and private sector allies to address persistent connectivity gaps which were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
